Message | Right now we have a welfare package that guarantees everyone a level of sustinence. This means that our current minimum wage is pointless. So by eliminating the minimum wage, we create more jobs which will lower the amount government has to pay for sustinence, we lower the cost of goods so that more people are able to live without government assistance, and we greatly increase the ability of government to measure whether individuals who get assisted living are trying to find gainful employment. |

Message | From the welfare bill: "Single, healthy adult, between 18-65 years of age: Can draw the benefit for six consecutive months, or until a job is found, whichever comes first. Can draw the benefit only one time in any given two year period. Can be required to perform public and/or voluntary service in order to qualify for benefits." Those who lack jobs must actively search for on if they want to receive welfare, and can be forced to work for it if deemed necessary. My party is against handing out money to indolent citizens who expect to paid for doing nothing. http://82.238.75.178:8085/particracy/main/viewbill.php?billid=14140 |

Message | But repealing the minimum wage will open up low paying jobs so that those receipients of welfare will be able to find work, we can be much more sure that those who don't have jobs are not searching for jobs. In the current situation, we try to offer incentive for them to find jobs, but we skew the labor market so there are not enough jobs available for them. If we want individuals to get off of welfare, we must create labor demand for them to do so. |

Message | If they cannot find work, they are unskilled. Lowering the minimum wage does not miraculously create new jobs for these people. If citizens do not have the skills to do a job, they will not get it, regardless of the amount it pays. Also, the minimum wage is currently at an amount that allows people to adequately subsist. How will people be able to live at any less? Once they have a job, they can no longer rely on welfare. Should we encourage charity to look after these people? Should we encourage those who had trouble finding one job to find a second? |

Message | Labor is not black and white like you are portraying it to be. Employers will pay whatever value the labor is worth, and all labor has some value. We are also not lowering the minimum wage, we are eliminating it. Doing this provides the employer with financial opportunity to offer jobs to those who would not provide labor utility that was valuable enough to purchase at a minimum wage rate. If we change the welfare bill to support those who are actively searching or are actually working, would you consider supporting this? |

Message | The "lowering the minimum wage" comment was a mistake. I meant removing. The problem with paying people a lower wage is, it isn't enough to survive on. These people without skills will be working, but still impoverished. I would much rather have them on welfare, either while learning skills, or looking for a job that will pay them enough to eat and keep a roof over their head. I'm happy with the welfare bill as it is now. |

Message | Alright, then read up on the iron law of wages: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_law_of_wages Its a theory by David Ricardo that heavily influenced Marx that stated that a minimum wage is unnecessary for giving a sustinence wages, as the natural forces of the market push wages towards a sustinence wage. |

Message | The iron law is interesting, but I still believe it is better to have a minimum wage. I feel there will always be unscrupulous employers who will exploit citizens without skills, or immigrants without adequate language skills for other work. Having no minimum wage will encourage these policies. It is only fair that a citizen who works for a living be paid enough to live. |
