Message | Well basically the proposed law will still be similar to the current law of not imposing tariffs on imports. But what if another nation decides to place tariffs on our goods and thus making it hard for our producers/farmers/manufactuers to compete? In this case we need to be able to fight back and show that we can't be pushed around! |

Message | Quote: "Ah, but absolutely free trade is the cornerstone of the existence of Keymon, its just what we do...." So are we sto stand by while other countries take advantage of us? If you are worried about free trade then sign free trade treaties with neighbours, this law doesn't have to disrupt it. It just gives us a way of reacting in case our exports are being unfairly taxed. |

Message | Well no, if other nations don't agree to free trade, then we assassinate their leaders. We can't really afford wars, so assassination it is then ;-) And on a more serious note, I don't know, this is a really, really tricky subject. I think that I'm going to have to come down on the side of national interest rather than ideology though, and vote yes.... |
Date | 20:25:40, October 19, 2005 CET | From | Manifest Destiny Party | To | Debating the Trade Tariff Act of 2125 |
Message | I have to agree with KRP and KF. We need to be able to reciprocate if tariffs are imposed against our goods or services. |
