Bill: Prospective Cabinet Proposal of September 2727

Details

Submitted by[?]: Commonwealth Workers Army

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill presents the formation of a cabinet. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. Traditionally, parties in the proposal vote yes, others (the opposition) vote no. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in and all parties in the proposal have voted yes, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: May 2728

Description[?]:

Given the admission of the Kanist faction that they oppose any form of cabinet that actually represents the will of the people, Sturm und Drang are opting to test the waters of other power-sharing options within Likatonia.

Obviously, our preference was something a little more equalitarian, and a little more representative of the actual professed ideologies of the Likatonian voters - we think of this as perhaps the first in a series of potential cabinets, to assess where various parties stand.

Politically, we seem to share most ideology with the Disciplinery of Lenin, and we haven't (yet) seen the Coalition of the Willing state a determination to oppose options based purely on factional partisanship - so those are the parties we are suggesting as partners in our first offering.

Again - we would appreciate it if parties cited in this proposal would take a moment to explain (either in discussion, or through private missive) why they oppose, should they choose to do so.

MessageWe can see that you have chosen the easiest way in order to get in power. Fair enough, it just shows how desperate you really are.

MessageAn interesting attack from the Likatonian National Front.

And one that we consider entirely inappropriate, given that we have allocated ourselves a grand total of ONE cabinet position in this particular offering; given that we have already offered a more representative cabinet offering once; and given that we have been told that we will effectively NEVER be granted a position in a cabinet as determined by the Neo Kanist faction (and, by extension, apparently - the rest of that bloc - we DID ask), for NO other reason than partisanship.

It's not a matter of desparation.

It's a matter of democracy.

MessageI believe that the Sturm und Drang Partei has been very unfairly treated in the past due to their 'interesting' policies, and I therefore believe that they should be able represent themselves very effectively, but I also believe that I don't understand how they could suggest that our two parties have got similar policies.

I thank you for making a very strong as there has been under-representantion in the past for these parties involved, and therefore i will go with this cabinate for the change, in the hopes that it will develope the nation further.

MessageWe simply have not gained any trust towards that party. Would you call the bill to change the name of the nation interesting? Also, I think that conclusions such as "Everyone shall bow to Immeressen" cannot be taken seriously, hence they are not trustworthy.

That is the main reason we have excluded the party from the previous cabinet.

MessageOur apologies to the Disciplinery of Lenin, if they perceived any slight. Sturm und Drang are - at heart, a party that believes each should give according to ability, and be given unto, according to need. We have other issues that we consider core, also, but we have thought there may be some common ground on that approach to the 'rights and responsibilties' issue.

MessageIn response to the Likatonian National Front - the current name of Likatonia is only one name in a history of names - and lacks the historical or cultural significance of some of the other names - in OUR opinion. This nation has a history of affiliation with the immortal incarnation of divinity - Zhelezo Immeressen.

If the National Front are non-believers (which would actually make them criminals, if you check Likatonian law - Likatonia STILL has mandatory religion), that is their call... but to attack the religious observances of the bulk of Likatonia is religious intolerance of the worst kind. Likatonia is an Immeressent nation - it's the official religion - and has been for centuries.

As for the idea that Sturm und Drang have somehow been untrustworthy - our cards have been on the table from the start. The Neo Kanists told us that we were being excluded purely because there is a mutually-supportive bloc in place, and now the National Front say it's because of our religion - who here needs to earn the trust of whom, exactly?

MessageWe thank the Coalition of the Willing and the Sagacious Disciplinery of Lenin for supporting attempts to find some kind of working government.

MessageThe NKRP do not agree with the law regarding mandatory religion. Although as a party we are pro-religious we do believe that every person should have the freedom to chose their own religion or to chose to remain atheist. We believe that this is a basic human right.
On the subject of the country's name we would strongly oppose any attempt to incorporate the "immortal incarnation of divinity - Zhelezo Immersen" into any part of our nation's title.
HOWEVER, if the people of this nation support the policies of the Sturm und Drang Partei (any suitable abbreviation of the party name for future use?) then they shall show this in the next election.

MessageOOC: SuDP works fine.

IC: The law regarding mandatory religion is not something that has arrived since our recent emergence, it has been on the books for quite some time. In it's centuries of history, Likatonia has had two mandatory religions - the original "Tears of Termani" sect, that was gradually replaced by "Immeressence" when the Immortal Zhelezo Immeressen (some skeptics would say, the first of a long line of people CALLED Immeressen) first came to power.

We choose to represent the people in this regard, because we are one of the parties that has, historically, been blessed by Immeressen's personal endorsement. (We believe there have been at least three historical parties to which Immeressen has been directly affiliated).

We believe that the People of Likatonia already HAVE shown that they support the policies of Sturm und Drang.
