Bill: Sturm und Drang - Civil Corps

Details

Submitted by[?]: Commonwealth Workers Army

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: November 2728

Description[?]:

The idea that the poor are mandated to serve in the military, but that the rich can opt out, is frankly disgusting. We oppose the current legislation on that basis, if no other.

On the other hand, we feel that the 'rights' of citizenship in Likatonia are offset by acceptance of 'responsibility', and we would like to see some kind of 'responsibility' apprenticeship for our nascent citizens, before they assume full voting rights, etc.

MessageUnder current law, there is compulsary MILITARY service, and the rich have mechanisms for opting out - which seems wrong to us. Mandatory service is arguable... mandatory MILITARY service removes the right to choose not to fight.

MessageWhy would the Neo Kanists oppose civilian service?

It doesn't PREVENT military service, it just means that ALL citizens (regardless of their position regarding military service) can be called upon to serve in SOME capacity.
