Bill: Emergency Wartime legislation
Details
Submitted by[?]: National Socialist Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: April 2731
Description[?]:
In uncertain times, it is restrictive and quite possibly a threat to our nation, to put restrictions upon our militaries use of chemical and biological warfare. Enemies think twice about attacking/invading a sovereign nation when the armed forces of the said nation are powerful and intimidating. Showing other nations that we will not utilise Chemicals in times of conflict does not assure us that any other nation will follow suit, in fact it is more likely that an aggressor would seize the opportunity to comit an act of war upon Solentia without fear of reprisal in the form of such devastating weapons as Chemical and Biological or even nuclear. It is put forward that we, as a sovereign nation, reserve the right to fully protect, defend and secure our territory and people by which ever means we see fit. |

Message | "The CMP remains dedicated to our pledge of demilitarisation. This nation has been a bastion of peace, diplomacy and neutrality in International Affairs for the last 400 years and that is not about to change." Imelda Wright, Shadow Secretary of State for Defence. |
Date | 21:54:28, March 24, 2009 CET | From | Solentian Industrial Council | To | Debating the Emergency Wartime legislation |
Message | "Remember that private citizens - whether rich or poor - have not the power to declare war. That unfortunate power is exclusively sent towards the Government. Which sort of government is more likely to plunge into war: a government of limited powers, bound by a constitution or an unlimited government, open to the pressures of any group with warlike interests. Are we not the former, a government created for the people, by the people? As a peaceful nation with peaceful intent, we have no need for such disgraceful weapons such as the ones set above, and thus we cannot afford to waste valuable resources in such an inefficient way. Thus, we vote NO on this proposition." Administrator P. Schuyler, 2730. |

Message | As somewhat accurately stated by Ms. Wright, the Federal Republic of Solentia has not seen war or involvement in international conflict since 2400, the Federal Republic's founding - that's roughly 330 years. So long as Solentia remains under the guidance of its past and current employed foreign policy, it will be continue to see nothing but peace and prosperity. FIP Majority Leader Jack Metzenbaum |

Message | You cannot seriously argue that we should not use every power at our disposal to protect and defend our people and their freedom?!??!? This house is a disgusting relic of an institution that once may have been formed to help our people. At war currently or not, does not mean that we will not be invaded at any point in the uncertain future. Demilitarisation at the very least would destroy our nation and i myself would become a terrorist against a government which promoted such an atrocity. I hope, that when we are invaded, when our people and our nation come under threat, when they have been attacked and our cities lay in rubble, i hope that the government of our nation then looks back at this moment in the house when defence of the realm died. |
