Message | There is simply no reason to discriminate against who may serve in our military. If a person is willing to lay down their life for the country, and they are fit enough to do so, then why does it matter what gender they are or what gender they prefer? |
Date | 04:47:27, March 31, 2009 CET | From | Free Thinking Tribes | To | Debating the Military (Discrimination) Abolition Act |
Message | We disagree with one and somewhat agree with two. We do not discriminate against women, but because it is the duty of the male to protect the female, no male should blatantly put her in harms way. As for one, let homosexuality not become an issue in the military. Allowing open homosexuality does not eliminate discrimination; in fact, it increases it. Allowing sexual orientation to be kept private creates a total ignorance to such discrimination and allows the military to function better. |

Message | It is not "the duty of the male to protect the female". That is outdated and backwards thinking that has no place in modern society. And notice how there are no laws prohibiting open membership of political parties, or open preference of car marques, or open mention of racial history. No, the only reason for the law prohibiting open homosexuality (and not open heterosexuality, which apparently is fine) is to oppress and discriminate against homosexuals. |

Message | Your party is backwards thinking and has no place in "modern society." Just because you say it, doesn't make it true. If you cared less about yourself, you would realize that it is the male's selfless duty to never put a woman in harm's way. How does creating ignorance of homosexuality in the military cause it to be oppressed? As for all the others, not only does this legislature not have the ability to change those laws of discrimination (with the exception of race, which has no place in this debate), but they, unlike the military, are to decide for themselves. A political party can ban homosexual members if it wishes (just for your information, the FTT does not do this). Your outdated thinking believes that all of us are homophobes and can't live with homosexuality. While it is us who are trying to work a way to ensure that sexuality is not grounds for discrimination. |
