Bill: Income tax proposal of November 2733

Details

Submitted by[?]: Alorian Populist Party (DemCoa)

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill proposes to change income taxes. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 2734

Description[?]:

The Alorian Populist Party (DemCoa) propose to adjust the government's income tax policy to better address the economic situation of the Democratic Republic of Aloria.

This Flattens the tax rate, while still making it more Progressive. 8,000 ALo per year is a little less then double the per capita income. MEanwhile, this is a net tax cut on everyone making less then 10,000 ALO, which is more then double the median income. This does this by removing the lower brackets, meaning that while taxes on income over 8,000 are more, they are not more of one's total income till over 10,000 ALO. All this, plus it raises revenues for our budget.

Random fact: In cases where a party has no seat, the default presumption should be that the party is able to contribute to debates in the legislature due to one of its members winning a seat at a by-election. However, players may collectively improvise arrangements of their own to provide a satisfying explanation for how parties with no seats in the legislature can speak and vote there.
