The "International Causes of Abortion Reduction Agreement" is one of the worst treaties this nation has ever signed. It has articles in it relating to telephone regulation and energy policy. The Agreement is not at all what it's name claims to be. Our party is entirely for reducing abortion, and we are more than willing to work with all to do so, so lets withdraw from this treaty and do it ourselves, so we don't have to be attached to it any longer.

MessageActually, if the Conservative Party would care to see beyond the morality of abortion and consider abortion as a symptom of a number of social problems that make it difficult for people to have choice in pregnancy, mostly relating to poverty. We alleviate poverty, and we eliminate a number of the causes that people want to get abortions. Then raising the kid becomes a financial possibility. You want to reduce abortion: start by working to eliminate poverty in our society. The COARA II Treaty helps to do just that.

Once the child is born it can starve to death for all they care. They're attempting to restrict abortion in order to control people and to control society.

It doesn't matter that Kalistan has had an extraordinarily low abortion rate for generations due to the social safety net, and due to the lack of social shaming. The right wing, while claiming to want to reduce abortion doesn't care if they end up increasing it, or trapping women and families in difficult or impossible situations. THey care more about getting rid of the safety net, and bringing as much shame as possible into the lives of Kalistanis.

They want to control society, and they don't care how much families and children suffer.

A leftist sees a hungry child, and feeds them, because they see a human being deserving of dignity. A right-winger sees a hungry child, and sees a leech on society, who should hurry up and suffer and die for hte sin of being poor.

We, however, protect the lives and dignity of true Kalistanis.

Be warned. Kalistan will never bow the knee to fascism. I will make sure of that.

MessageReally? Fascism? Some of the greatest charities existing int he world are run by people on the right, people who truly care about the well being of the poor. When a conservative sees an abortion, they are seeing a life destroyed. When a liberal sees an abortion, they are seeing a betterment to society because that child who was aborted probably had some kind of mental deficiency anyways. "Who cares" says the left winger. We Conservatives are whole heartedly against that kind of attitude. The same goes with Euthanasia. "Why continue to support a life that is costing the State?" says the left winger. "Because it matters" says the conservative. We will stop at nothing to fight right with the RFP to destroy fascism, but we can not continue destroying lives with them.

MessageWhen the Socialist Party sees abortion, we see wasted potential. Granted, we don't spend an inordinate amount of time considering abortions like the moralists on the right do, 1) because the abortion rate is so low in Kalistan, and 2) because we are not morbidly interested in controlling other people's lives and making their decisions for them. But when we discuss it, we discuss it in terms of wasted potential. Here was two lives that were ruined because some poor mother here didn't have access to birth control, and some poor person over there didn't have enough money to adequately raise their child, or this person over here didn't want to destroy her own life trying to raise a kid she never wanted in the first place but got stuck with anyway, or this person over here who has to drop out of school and get a job because the father of this baby ditched her because he didn't care to be responsible. And on top of that we see a potential human being who never got the chance to be anything because his or her parents had to make the choice between raising him at subsistence level or aborting him.

All this is true, and SPoK members tend to be against abortion. Hell, nobody wants to be in that position where they have to choose, and we can say for a fact that not a single member of the Socialist Party believes "Abortions on demand! Abortions for all mothers! Let's kill them all!" The anti-abortion folks, however never tire of painting us in those terms, and do we know why? Well, of course we do: it's because they believe that people who are against government legislation of abortions are doing the work of the devil, they are promoting evil. It is only a small leap from that position to "Well, those liberals out there would promote abortion for everyone, and who knows, maybe even bathe in the blood!"

Greusome, yes? That's right. It is greusome. But here is the Socialist Party's stance on abortion. The government are not the people who should make the choice for mothers about what to do with something that relies upon them 100% to survive. We would not stop a person from donating a kidney. It is also not our place to stop someone from aborting a fetus. This is an intensely personal matter and is not eligible for government intervention, because the fetus in question is not a citizen and has no rights. They are not even properly a person until they do what all humans do, and breathe oxygen through lungs, metabolize their own food, and communicate with others. Until they can do these things for themselves, they are an appendage of the thing that keeps them alive, and we would not pass a law saying a person cannot have their arm amputated if they so desire.

Where we can prevent abortion with good alternatives, we should. This includes, first and foremost education and birth control programs to be made available on demand to everyone who is old enough to be a part of child creation. We should also foster adoption programs which will take care of children who, for whatever reason or no reason, are not going to have a good life with their birth parents. I would support legislation that requires members of all Parties who voted for this regime withdrawal to adopt kids who are up for adoption, if they think it is so easy to raise kids or else pay an annual fine to the state equal to the upkeep at state expense of one child in our foster care and orphange systems. All our efforts should be aimed at preventing unwanted pregnancy to begin with, so there will be fewer abortions.

Where we cannot prevent abortion through the above methods, we should make the procedure as safe as possible for the mother, who will go on living. Contrary to the delusions of people on the right, who are on a moral crusade to stomp out this thing that they alone view as evil, women will still get abortions, law or no law. The moralist anti-abortionists are ironically able to determine the environment and level of medical care that accompanies that decision. Women will have abortions, and if it is legal, they will have them in medical facilities. If it is illegal, they will have them in their basements. If it is legal, the mother will likely survive, and if something goes wrong, the mother can be taken care of immediately. If it is illegal, not only will the fetus die, but the mother could die as well. And interestingly enough, the right will have the sole power to determine this if they vote to overturn abortion rights.

And you can bet we will make a big deal of that in our next election.

It is not too late to vote against this treaty withdrawal. If you are truly interested in the lives of citizens of Kalistan, that is those who pay taxes and those who vote, you will vote no on this bill. We only need one seated party to switch, and the bill is defeated.

But if it passes, SPoK will sponsor legislation to require each and every member of the five Parties who support this legislation to either adopt a child or pay an annual fine for the upkeep and maintenance of a child who is in the state system. Afterall, they will be responsible for putting those kids there. And if we get news of a single person dying from a botched abortion, SPoK will file suit in Constitutional Court and name each Party's leader who voted yes on this bill. Because all that blood will be on you all's hands.
