Bill: Right-Left Government Proposal of August 2735

Details

Submitted by[?]: Socialist Party of Kalistan (SPoK)

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill presents the formation of a cabinet. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. Traditionally, parties in the proposal vote yes, others (the opposition) vote no. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in and all parties in the proposal have voted yes, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: April 2736

Description[?]:

The Socialist Party takes the recent pre-election statements of Patriot Darth Jones at face value, and welcomes the decision to sell Che Guevara t-shirts, which display the picture of a mythical alien socialist on them. The Socialists have also made some steps toward the middle, toning down the big government rhetoric over the past few years, and opposing POW regimes, in anticipation of the day when the left would again be in the minority.

To this end, the Socialist Party proposes a Grand Coalition made up of the Old Left clique, as well as the Liberal Patriots League, to counter the no-confidence proposal made by the Conservatives. Traditional seats are maintained, and the Premiership is offered to the LPL as a condition of their joining the government. If one proposed member of the new government balks, that member will be out of the next proposal made by SPoK. And we will continue to propose new configurations until we get one passed.

This cabinet represents the smallest possible majority, with 408 seats.

MessageOur Friends at the Conservative Party are not part of this cabinet, being the party with the largest amount of seats in the country. The people of Kalistan elected such a party based what they consider to be the best for the country; going against that is slightly unethical.

MessageMay I invite the PiS to register a similar complaint about the Conservative Party's counter proposal? They do, afterall, only have one more seat than SPoK does, and when the left was the majority, the Conservatives remained part of the government, even though the left had the majority.

We understand you two are ideologically similar: this is fine with us. But if you are going to refer to universal concepts like ethics, they need to apply across the board. As for us, we don't particular worry about that when forming the government. But if you label this proposal as unethical, you must also label the Conservative proposal as unethical.

Random fact: Particracy does not allow real-life brand names (eg. Coca Cola, McDonalds, Microsoft). However, in the case of military equipment brand names it is permitted to use simple number-letter combinations (eg. T-90 and F-22) borrowed from real life, and also simple generic names, like those of animals (eg. Leopard and Jaguar).

Random quote: "A return to first principles in a republic is sometimes caused by the simple virtues of one man. His good example has such an influence that the good men strive to imitate him, and the wicked are ashamed to lead a life so contrary to his example." - Niccolo Machiavelli
