Bill: Confidence Cabinet Proposal of October 2736

Details

Submitted by[?]: Socialist Party of Kalistan (SPoK)

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill presents the formation of a cabinet. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. Traditionally, parties in the proposal vote yes, others (the opposition) vote no. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in and all parties in the proposal have voted yes, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: June 2737

Description[?]:

All Parties represented in this cabinet proposal voted for the No-Confidence proposal. In addition, the National Radical Party broke with the Government and supported the No Confidence vote and new elections. Their Party has made the request to be named as Internal Minister and Defense Minister.

Our proposal grants that.

This proposal is offered as an alternative to open civil conflict. This proposed coalition represents 408 Seats a bare majority, naming the NRP as Premier, as well as the two seats he requested and Science and Technology. The restoration of the left to government will pacify some of the more militant members of the KPRF and allow for the dust to settle for a few years in preparation for new elections in 3 years time. The left is also represented in the Government.

We offer this coalition in good faith, the same faith we offered to the Conservatives before they cut the left completely out of government. We hope it is acceptable to all Parties named, and we fully encourage all Parties to adopt this so we can begin resolving the crisis that is wracking our country.

MessageWe are sorry to have to break this to the KPRF, but the cabinet proposal made by the NRP actually represents a greater majority, and represents the parties whom the people of Kalistan placed their true confidence in. This obsession with forming governments that do not adequately represent the wishes of the people is beyond our comprehension. The people have now voted twice for a Conservative Government, let them have it!

MessageWe'll see.

If this bill doesn't pass, we will offer a new arrangement that you may find more acceptable. The rift is not so great that it can't be breached, but our militants are losing patience with what they see as us playing games by messing around in government.

If we can't push an agenda of any sort, if the left isn't represented anywhere in government the way the right was when the left was the majority and didn't need to bring the right into the government at all, what do they have to buy into? The Party leadership is beginning to agree with them.

Perhaps if the Conservatives were interested in building a coalition that didn't leave nearly half of the voters entirely out, they would make a cabinet proposal themselves. One that the left could vote for. It's not impossible, Comrade.
