MessageAll of the seats are representative of the Badaran people, of which most are Muslim. His Majesty, Caliph Yaqub I, shall not be acting on any such request by the Shaydat.

OOC: Again, there is no Arabia on Terra, therefore no Arabs. Generally, we think of Badarans as the in-game representation of Arabs.

MessageOOC: I went here: http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=235637 when i first registered. i could have sworn it said the ethnicity was Arab. my mistake.
the name of the nation is Arabic, the language is Arabic, the people are 80% Muslim (Sunni at that, not some fictional branch), you have a Caliph who claims descent from Mohammed (pbuh).
of course, the ETHNICITY is not Arabic, how could anybody be confused about that?

"Generally, we think of Badarans as the in-game representation of Arabs."

Now, I get it. That's why the Gharkis have more seats than you, the people are not Arabs, they are some Westerner's interpretation of an Arab. It all makes so much more sense now.

Hold on, let me change the bill.

MessageNow, the Bill is changed. The change (Arab to Majatran) has corrected the bill.
However, what is not changed is your lie, to the Caliph no less!
"All of the seats are representative of the Badaran people, of which most are Muslim."
LIE
Let me explain the difference between a lie and an untruth/falsehood. The difference is in the knowing. Did you know you were lying? Yes, you did. You were not simply wrong, you lied.
We did not say that none of the seats were representative because your party, Junood Allah, from what we have seen does represent Muslims. Specifically, older ones. Whether or not anybody represents Majatrans we have no idea because Majatrans DO NOT EXIST!
Muslims exist.
The only seats that represent Muslims are the seats held by Junood Allah. Junood Allah does not hold the majority of the seats, so the majority of the seats do not represent Muslims.
Your party claims they all represent Muslims? Your party insults their own mothers speaking such!
Do we not have new legislation that gives animals rights? Present one single Muslim who is represented by this. Shahydat could form a line of Muslims a thousand miles long who would each tell your party that this legislation does not simply fail to represent them, but betrays their MOST sacred beliefs. You know we could do it, so do not even think of arguing otherwise.
A dog has rights? Is your party insane?
Even the most moderate and reformist Muslims are betrayed by the legislation that has been passed recently. Why this government has even legalized cloning human beings! You think this is representative of Muslims, not a betrayal of their most sacred beliefs?
Your party has lost all sense, or you have lied, to the Caliph.

Junood Allah?
- spit -
Hizb Junoon!

Your party is well aware that if they voted for these measures the clerics would be calling for your heads, then you claim they represent Muslims. You insult your parents with this talk.

MessageOOC: everybody remember the Mohammed (pbuh) cartoon that sparked riots? westerners could not understand why the Muslims were rioting, the Muslims were wondering why basic respect does not exist in Westerners. you are all well aware how disrespectful this whole thing is. I am speaking to all of you, Junoon included. If somebody comes to your home and blows themself up, what you did here does not justify it, but it does provoke. If you want to go out of your way to spit on somebody's most sacred beliefs, somebody who has done you no harm, no disrespect, in a public arena so the whole world can witness, you are kind of asking for trouble.
Let me try this another way.
If you walk into a bar in Africa and start calling everybody you see Nigger and they attack you, they were not justified, but you did ask for it.
Basic respect is all the world needs. If you don't give it, you are asking for whatever you get.

MessageOOC: No I don't think he does. And the next time you start pulling out personal insults, you may find the ban hammer on you very quickly. This is not the type of community that will deal with all of the shit thrown at us for the sake of letting everyone play.

Also, Gharki is a province of Al'Badara. -.-

MessageShahydat is welcome to propose an alternative government, of course. As long as such a government would control a majority of seats in the Majlis, it would stand a chance of being sworn in. So tell us, Shahydat, which party or parties would be included?

MessageThere would be no more parties. The only party representing the people just lied to the Caliph (defending the rest of you, ironically enough). Now, all parties are traitors. The Caliph would rule.

OOC: I don't know how the game works, but I know the game is offensive to Muslims. I don't know how the game works, but am the only one who can see that the only way the people have a chance is to dissolve the government.
For the record, while democracy is something sacred to westerners, as hard as it may be to believe, it does not much interest Arabs. Certainly, your own countries have small Arab populations, people who have even obtained citizenship and, with it, the right to vote. I say certainly because, if nothing else, you can find Lebanese everywhere in the world. Rather than presume that the whole world must be as infatuated with democracy as you are, look into how often your Arabic citizens actually exercise their right to vote. When they do vote, which is rarely, they actually tend to vote for the conservative party. The first time GW ran, the Arab Americans who voted almost all voted for him. Not because of his MidEast views, obviously, but abortion, faith-based schools, stem-cell research. Another irony would be that, though Arabs base their votes on faith based values, they do desire more secular governments. The Palestinians voted for Hamas because they fought Israel, not because they wanted to be ruled by religious fanatics. Hamas is not even really religiously fanatic, they sneak and break the fast during Ramadan, I've seen them. In Lebanon Hizb-Allah (you call them Hezbollah) won because they fought Israel, not because the people wanted to be ruled by religious fanatics. They want secular leaders, but vote for militants because the miltants are the ones who stand up for them. That is what would happen if things continued in Al'Badaran the way they are. Because all the parties refused to stand up for them, they would elect the religious militants, though they would prefer a secular government. I would expect that Junood Allah would win the next elections, despite the fact that the people really wanted a lot of your reforms rather than a return to the Middle Ages. Junood Allah they can, at least, understand. The rest of you are like aliens from another planet. One moment you give them internet access and they love it, the next you give rights to the dogs that roam the streets and everybody throws rocks at and they have no idea why you would even consider such a thing. The values of Junood Allah are more extreme than they would like, but they understand those values and those values are, at least, kin to their own.
The people still want to pray five times a day, make no mistake, they just don't want to have to do it. Given the choice between compulsory prayers and giving rights to animals, they would choose the former everytime. All the parties are too extreme, none could take a moderate approach to reform and baby steps from religious government to secular state. Instead you wanted to push the people from forced religious dress straight to cross-dressing, no stops in between. As crazy as it sounds, that's exactly what you did.
Let the Caliph rule, we love kings. We like the strength and power that one person can wield, but you can never find in a democracy because of internal disagreements, clashing priorities, etc. The vast majority of Iranians loved the Ayatollah (though they claim to be Persian, not Arab), the Palestinians loved Arafat. The Jordanians love their king. We love kings.

MessageOOC: Shahydat, when this game was made and the political ideology of each country was decided upon, Al'Badara was not Muslim. The players decided to make Al'Badara an Arab Muslim country, and as such, the fact that Al'Badara is Muslim has no affect on gameplay.

Also, think about all the Arab and Muslim countries that are not monarchies. North Yemen was a democracy, South Yemen was communist. Nasser and Qadhafi overthrew monarchies, as did Iraq. Pakistan has a democracy, and many of the smaller Muslim countries have constitutional monarchies.
