Message | We see no particular reason for this - a TOC funded and managed by the government is answerable only to voters, where private TOC's will lose customers and funding directly if their service is inadequate, forcing them to improve. By definition, the former will be less efficient than the latter. In any case, those who use the train services should pay for it, and those who don't should not - if the government funded a TOC, many tax-payers would be paying for a service they do not use. |
