MessageThe FMCP would support giving citizens more liberties with regards to bearing arms rather than this measure. We oppose.

Message. Currently, a number of lethal weapons are available to the public so this would mean the police were effectively unable to carry out their duties. If the police are unable to maintain law and order then other people will start doing it and whoever is the most brutal, whoever has the most guns will be in charge.

MessageIf the police are able to control the public via force, the laws cease to have any relevance. It is only when the public is more powerful than the state that the state has any compunction to follow the law.

MessageIf the public is more powerful than the state the public then has no compunction to follow the law. We propose arming both equally. Checks and balances.

MessageThe law exists for the benefit of the public, not the benefit of the state. As long as the law continues to benefit the public, they will follow it out of self-interest. As soon as it does not, they should not and will not follow it.
