Message | I will be honest. This is a bit of a cynical attempt to gain political capital. While this does truly reflect my beliefs, I am aware that like last time I proposed something similar, it will not pass. I am simply attempting to raise my visibility in this issue so that the voters will vote their beliefs come next election. |

Message | this bill is wrong for two reasons. Firstly privatisation is inefficient and prone to corruption, and costs the government more in the long run when they have to step in to sort it all out. secondly, i am allergic to american spellings with zs in :-p |

Message | D***! LPE, that's not an "american" spelling, that's just a plain out mistake. (Do Americans really spell these things with z's?) I'm sorry that it wasn't caught during the debate. |

Message | OOC: Yes, we really do spell them with z's. No u's for words like "harbour" and "colour" either. As for the bill, we support the idea of a nationalized post office, even after the federalization bill. It's an important function that shouldn't be left just to local governments, nor solely for private companies. |

Message | Private energy generation is the higher priority. We'll remove the post office from this bill. |

Message | OOC: you did american spelling by mistake? methinks you have been too long submerged in the world of virtual politics... This is better, the post office was the one we felt most strongly about, but I am afraid we must still oppose as we feel power provision to be a vital service which must be maintained at all costs, and you just can't expect a private company to shoulder that much responsibility - if you are going to pricatise stuff you have to allow for it to stand or fall on its own merits, otherwise there is no point to it, and if it should happen to fall the entire country will be plunged into a blackout. |

Message | There is more immediate accountability in a private concern than a government run organization - therefore we feel that there is less likelihood of failure if the energy production with privatization than with nationalized energy production. |

Message | The AAP is happy with the current balance, which allows a great deal of Libertarian freedom, whilst ALSO providing a guaranteed state-supported 'back-up'. |

Message | OOC: Gah, you're probably right. I'm starting to absorb the evil influence of America. Err, joking about the evil part... mostly... :P Come to think of it, I can't recall which is Americanised spellings and which aren't. I think I'm forgetting my proper English and whatnot. Darned those rebels! I guess I don't have any real objection to the public powerstations as long as they're competing fairly. Unfortunately, historically, public institutions have not been operated on a for-profit basis. They don't run profitably. They sell at cost. This means they become a large revenue drain and they put private companies out of business. |
