Message | We fully support this legislation. |
Date | 15:54:50, April 30, 2009 CET | From | Rutanian Heritage Party | To | Debating the Death Penalty Bill of 2748 |
Message | We oppose - we believe that the death penalty is an appropriate retributive punishment for extreme crimes, and is the only punishment commensurate to crimes of the nature described. We support the status quo, and, in fact, we would prefer to see the current policy taken further rather than being repealed. |

Message | The RSDP fully agrees with this legislative proposal. RHP, the Commonwealth of Rutania must not involve itself with only retributive forms of punishment and justice. There most be a greater emphasis on restorative justice, allowing criminals to choose from a plethora of restorative options while in prison as opposed to taking their lives, no matter how heinous. Being a criminal does not decide the identity of the individual and justify the removal of inalienable rights. The value of human life is not a circumstantial reality. The RSDP fully supports this proposed legislation and plans to vote for it in the future. We applaud the OP for its proposal! Luke D. Taylor, President of the RSDP |

Message | The United Progressive Party is compelled to agree with the Rutanian Heritage Party. If those that subject others to the horror of death, are not punished accordingly, then it simply shows a message that the Rutanian Justice Department is unwilling to carry out swift and efficient punishment. |

Message | In response to the arguments of the 'RSDP': We do not subscribe to the fallacy of 'restorative justice'. Criminals who would commit such atrocities as rape, murder, pedophilia or terrorism are well and truly beyond redemption, and there is no 'peaceful' means by which they can adequately compensate for these acts. At the core of human nature is a compulsion to restore order through the retributive punishment of those who have wronged individuals and society - to put it unromantically, by deeply-embedded human instinct, those who have caused harm should themselves be harmed in an appropriate and commensurate manner. There is a great deal of truth to the biblical expression, 'an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth'. |
