Submitted by[?]: Risen People Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: September 2751

Description[?]:

The monarchical system as presently constituted is an affront to democracy and the sovereignty of the the Al'Badaran people. It is also a waste of money and makes the nation seem backward to the outside world.

MessageOOC: "Most Supreme Leader"? Sounds like North Korea.

MessageThe Monarchy is something that is deeply embedded into our history. One of the proposals, or both in a way, seem slightly extreme to adopt straight away. It is our belief that the Monarchy should be a figurehead of the nation but would have no, or very little role in the government. A ceremonial Head of State so to speak.

MessageThe Risen People do not have any great problem with a ceremonial head of government. We do have a very clear problem with an unelected inherited position though. The wealth of most royal families is obscene and would better serve the people if fairly redistributed.

MessageAn suggestions for amendment are welcome. Most Supreme Leader was an attempt at a sop to the character of the state under the powers that be.

MessageSupreme Leader Would be destroying this country's history, so we oppose that. Why not suggest that, the Royal Family should donate a certain percentage of their income per annum to the nation ?

MessageThe aim of Risen People is to destroy positions like hereditary heads of state, and resign them to history.

The royal family should not exist, they have no right to their fortune and so to simply pay taxes is not enough. The people of Al'Badara should have the right to choose their head of state and the right to get rid of them through democratic means.

So much for progress.

MessageIn its present form, this is a measure that we cannot support. In the fullness of time, it may theoretically prove worthwhile to consider reform of the governmental structures of our nation, but at present this is nothing more than a publicity stunt.

MessageIt is the position of our party as republicans. Call it what you want but the pursuit of stated goals is surely the point of any party, we are no different.

Random fact: It is the collective responsibility of the players in a nation to ensure all currently binding RP laws are clearly outlined in an OOC reference bill in the "Bills under debate" section of the nation page. Confusion should not be created by displaying only some of the current RP laws or displaying RP laws which are no longer current.
