Bill: Cabinet Proposal of May 2753

Details

Submitted by[?]: Hizb al-Wataniyya al-Mujadidiyya

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill presents the formation of a cabinet. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. Traditionally, parties in the proposal vote yes, others (the opposition) vote no. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in and all parties in the proposal have voted yes, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: January 2754

Description[?]:

The two parties represented here are highly compatible and represent a majority of the Majlis as presently constituted. As we received the plurality of votes at the last election, we claim the senior-most positions, while giving the Progress Alliance three ministries. We assume that the Progress Alliance will distinguish itself in these positions of power.

MessageAl'Badara Progress Alliance recognises that the Gharki Nationalist Party wasn't seated in this cabinet, and although we regret that not all parties are represented, the ideology and voting pattern of the majority seat holder, Hizb al-Wataniyya al-Mujadidiyya is considerably different.

MessageThe GNP is entitled to remember or forget what it wishes. We do sincerely hope, though, that it remembers that no party has a monopoly on power or a constitutional entitlement to a cabinet position.
The GNP-HWM ministry which this new executive replaces was a coalition forced upon both parties by the collapse of a number of parties representing nearly half the Majlis. Before those parties collapsed, there were several viable cabinet options, and it is to be hoped that there will continue to be so in the future.
