Message | The government could show interest by having an educational program which promotes these values; however, the amount and level of subsidies and exemptions should be limited. Too much government influence can damage the natural flow of the market. People (sometimes unfortunately) learn only through experience. That is partially why the market has a cycle of growth and decline. People learn, forget, and then learn the hard way again. Too many measures (too much influence) only lengthen the process and the action is damaging overall. A gardener should limit, if not eliminate, the use of pesticides and plant steroids. Not only is this unnatural, but harmful in the long-run as well. Compost forms naturally both in the garden and with little effort of the gardener- the only requirement is the occasional maintenance and a watchful eye. |

Message | We agree with the SRP. If DWC's can not survive under market conditions, it is sheer arrogance to think that any amount of subsidization would accomplish anything. Propping up businesses that should otherwise fail will only tie up resources that could be employed in ventures that do not require government favors to survive. |
