Description[?]:

WHEREAS Slander is defined as any untruthful statement that is spoken that brings a person's good name into disrepute;

AND WHEREAS, Selucia has no laws allowing persons to sue for damages caused by defamatory actions that are expressed verbally;

AND WHEREAS, Selucians would benefit from the protection of laws against all forms of defamation;

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the law be changed to allow lawsuits for all forms of defamation including Slander;

THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT truth of a statement be an absolute defence to defamation lawsuits.

MessageThis is a companion to the other defamatory bill. This one deals with Slander (verbal defamation). The other one deals with libel (written defamation). In order to be consistent, we should have both libel and slander dealt with in a similar manner.
