Message | This will, of course, allow us to use the media to spread the teachings of Hallibutt as well. |
Date | 21:39:20, April 27, 2005 CET | From | Social Democrat Party | To | Debating the Mass Media Act |
Message | I believe that there should be a national television and radio station owned by the state for important messages (which can include hallibutt teachings). However i do not think the state should control all television and radio stations. People should not be restricted so that they must say everything the government wants in the media. |
Date | 22:43:15, April 27, 2005 CET | From | Benevolent Totalitarian Party - FLF | To | Debating the Mass Media Act |
Message | Why not? Government-controlled media is a key ingredient of an orderly society. As long as the government is responsible, benevolent and wise, it will provide good quality information and entertainment. |
Date | 22:45:18, April 27, 2005 CET | From | Benevolent Totalitarian Party - FLF | To | Debating the Mass Media Act |
Message | By the way, the current wording of this issue is a bit confusing . The game should make the difference between media that is state-owned but NOT state-controlled - like the BBC - and media that IS state-controlled. |
Date | 12:18:41, April 28, 2005 CET | From | To | Debating the Mass Media Act |
Message | Tricky question. I need to think more about this. |
Date | 12:37:57, April 28, 2005 CET | From | Benevolent Totalitarian Party - FLF | To | Debating the Mass Media Act |
Message | Keep in mind that if private media is allowed, they will be able to spread anti-Hallibutt propaganda if they want. |
Date | 12:41:32, April 28, 2005 CET | From | To | Debating the Mass Media Act |
Message | Yes, but as you said. The important isn't that it's state-owned, but that it's state controlled. |
Date | 14:57:24, April 28, 2005 CET | From | People's Progressive Party | To | Debating the Mass Media Act |
Message | We agree with the Social Democrats on this one. |
Date | 17:08:57, April 28, 2005 CET | From | To | Debating the Mass Media Act |
Message | You always do. |
Date | 09:59:02, April 29, 2005 CET | From | People's Progressive Party | To | Debating the Mass Media Act |
Message | Thats not the attitude Hallibut would promote from his parliamentarians. |

Random fact: Particracy allows you to establish an unelected head of state like a monarch or a president-for-life, but doing this is a bit of a process. First elect a candidate with the name "." to the Head of State position. Then change your law on the "Structure of the executive branch" to "The head of state is hereditary and symbolic; the head of government chairs the cabinet" and change the "formal title of the head of state" to how you want the new head of state's title and name to appear (eg. King Percy XVI). |
Random quote: "The 20th century has been characterised by three developments of great political importance: the growth of democracy, the growth of corporate power; and the growth of corporate propaganda against democracy." - Alex Carey |
