Bill: Seperation of Faith and Fact
Details
Submitted by[?]: Kundrati Revolutionary Movement
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: October 2129
Description[?]:
In Kundrati we already recognize the importance of keeping officially sanctioned religion out of the classroom when it comes to the public schools. We have previously held an exception to this idea when it comes to private religious schools. It is time for this to change. While it is certainly right for religious organizations to open up schools if they so desire, it is not right to allow teacher-led prayers to blur the line between the secular aspects of their education programs and the religious nature of their organizations. Teachers exist to teach the knowledge that young Kundratians need to learn, like literacy and math and science. They do not exist to act as secondary priests. If they feel the need, religious schools should find time during the day for actual religious lessons and prayers led by actual religious leaders outside of the secular classroom setting. Instead of having a person whose job it is to teach about addition and subtraction mix things up with prayers to a higher power, have the students leave the classroom and go elsewhere for religious rites and rituals. Only in this way can children gain a real education. |

Message | again, it is a religious school, you have no place taking away a teachers right in a religious school to lead his class in a prayer. This is not affecting what is being taught, nor are they acting as secondary priests. If you don't want your kid to be involved in prayer at school, send them to a public school. However, we will not support taking religion out of religious schools. |

Message | Prayer has no place in a science class. Nor in mathematics, or literature, or art, or gym. It just isn't relevant to the subject that is supposedly being discussed. Keep the prayers and other religious rites and teachings in their own seperate context. |
