Bill: Correcting Semantics Act of 2784
Details
Submitted by[?]: Freedom Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: November 2786
Description[?]:
We think that calling the legislative districts "states" as opposed to "commonwealths" better reflects this nation's character. "State" implies that each region retains a certain amount of autonomy from the federal government (see http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/state definitions 1 and 2). |

Message | The REP firmly opposes first articles of this bill. The current quota is ok because it tries to stop the chaotic action of legislation and introduce some order in the action of the Senate. As for the second article we might support but we do not see the point in it. And we strongly oppose the name change for our country. The "Commonwealth of Rutania" has a long-lasting tradition and we are not willing to betray that tradition. Charles Augustus von Bruckenthal, Senator, REP |

Message | We may be able to support this - we can certainly support Article 2, at the very least. |

Message | We can't support article 1, 5 proposal per year is quite enough. |

Message | So no consensus on a new name for the nation? I suggest the "The Federation of Rutania" but am open to other suggestions |

Random fact: Cabinet ministers who disagree seriously with the head of government would usually be expected to resign. Parties within the cabinet may attempt to manoeuvre to replace the head of government though, for example by proposing a new cabinet bill or voting for an early election. |
