Bill: Public Housing Bill
Details

Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: March 2130
Description[?]:
Public housing should be built by the government. Private companies are trying to make a profit, therefore are more likely to cut corners, or leave out expensive items, such as indoor toilets. It is vital that the government provides public housing in order to make sure it is of a good quality. |

Message | Private enterprise is more effecient, thereby lowering the cost to the taxpayers of the housing. Corner cutting and leaving out options can be dealt with by properly worded contracts and suffcient oversight. Further, by allowing competing private companies to build the houses, you increase diversity and eliminate the ticky-tack nature of government built housing projects. |

Message | Competitive private contracts also cut the costs-per-house, allowing many more houses to be built and many more people to be housed on the same budget. |

Message | We distrust private companies motives, and am sure that the government can build housing just as cheaply, and can also ensure the rent is low. |

Message | The great thing about a private company is that no matter how dishonest a private company is, it still gives good service - or it ceases to exist. The government meanwhile will continue existing no matter how good or bad it is. Between the two, I prefer private corruption, since private corruption doesn't stop housing construction. When the government screws up, houses take months to build, are built shoddily, and cost strangely large amounts. |
