MessageThe AAP believes that this is a dangerous precedent to set - to allow a benefit ONLY to the private sector, that is not ALSO inherent in the government of the people.

We also disagree with the idea that gated communities must be demographic barriers.

On the contrary, the (government-maintained) Jamil Terrace Gated Community, in Anakagrad, was set up as a model of 'mixed' citizenship. Applicants were accepted from a variety of demographic sections - racial, gender, economic, religious, etc.

While it is not perfect, there IS a sense of community about the Jamil Terrace Gated Community, proving that people CAN unite across a variety of different 'societal borders'.

In fact, the ONLY loss in a government gated-community, seems to have been a loss of crime - the fact that there is a 'control' mechanism on access has hampered opportunity for casual crime.

MessageWe have to agree with the AAP. Before we had once pressed a bill like this ourselves, but indeed we see now that it's best that both public and private gated communities can exist.
