Bill: Divorce Reform
Details
Submitted by[?]: Kaiserlich Partei
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: February 2809
Description[?]:
The current legislation only permits a divorce in extraordinary circumstances: violence etc. I propose that this should be amended to divorce, provided it is mutual decision. My reasons for amending the legislation is the inability of the individual involved to demonstrate there has been violence or adultery. Adultery is somewhat difficult to prove and this would leave an unfair onus on the individual involved seeking the termination. I seek your opinion and appropriate vote. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change The legality of divorces (if marriages are recognised).
Old value:: Divorces are only legal with grounded cause (such as adultery, or violence).
Current: Divorces are legal, be it mutual consent, grounded cause or if one partner wants it.
Proposed: Divorces are only legal with mutual consent.

Message | The only catch in this legislation KP is the fact either member of the family could have developed bi polar disorder; thus one member may just want to leave the relationship because living with her/his partner is hell. |

Message | We should completely liberalize divorce. Not an issue of the state to regulate. |

Message | I do not believe that legalising divorce completely is keeping up with the Hulstrian community attitudes. Also, I did not want to introduce rampant reform just yet, if this legislation is passed, I will propose to amend the legislation further to legalise divorce completely. I am still open to discussion. Part of me regrets moving this to a vote so early. |

Random fact: Parties have the ability to endorse another party's candidate for the Head of State election (if there is one). This adds a strategic element to the elections. |
