Bill: Cabinet Proposal of February 2812
Details
Submitted by[?]: Country Liberal Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill presents the formation of a cabinet. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. Traditionally, parties in the proposal vote yes, others (the opposition) vote no. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in and all parties in the proposal have voted yes, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.
Voting deadline: October 2812
Description[?]:
Proposing a Cabinet. The CLP has become the largest party, however we recognise that we are a new party, and thus would not seek to dominate the government. So, we ask for the position of Head of Government, to reflect the success of the CLP, and the position of agriculture, as we consider ourselve to be a rural party (although we recognise the significant protest vote that we have attracted, giving us a large foothold across the country). Although the LNP has suffered a setback, we would like to see continuity in the position of foreign minister, thus ask William Mfume to stay on, along with Rafaela Martinez. The other nine posts have been split with three each for the Radical Nationalists, Real Liberals and URP, giving law and order to the RNP, Finance to the RLP, and Defence to the URP. If this passes this gives the government command of 113 MP's, and therefore a majority of 26 over the opposition, we feel this would allow sustainable governance. |

Message | You use a very interesting term: "opposition." Perhaps, you should take a look at the voting record and see who the real opposition is. The Real Liberal Party has done absolutely nothing for this country. Mr. Mfume has done absolutely nothing as Foreign Affairs Minister---seriously, he is known only in this country. And not even most of our people know who he is. While we commend the Country Liberal Party for trying to reach out to every section of the political spectrum, the well being of our people must be the first priority. Yes, partisan governments cause controversies at times but sometimes, those are the most effective one. This one, while it does include a diverse group of people, it also includes inept and corrupt individuals. Should we choose diversity over experience and good qualifications? That's the question at hand in this proposal. |

Message | Admittedly the current foreign minister has not done a great deal, but we feel that this position requires continuity, rather than constant change. By offering Mr Mfume a second term as the foreign minister we hope he’ll be able to expand on the experience he gained. As a result we in the CLP feel that he currently has better qualifications that anyone else to remain in the positions. However we do accept that this cabinet contains a diverse mix of parties, and recognise that this could be an important issue. However we wish to see a change in government away from the LP and FPP (although retaining the LNP due to their enthusiasm for governance), and of course could not really consider working with the LLWP. If this proposal fails then of course we shall look around for alternatives. |

Message | Your points are understandable. We know perfectly well that some positions within the Cabinet take some getting use to, especially that of Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister. Some of our most distinguished leaders have served on those positions for many years and then have moved on to other positions (President, etc.) having gained substantial experience but doing so has taken time and hard work on their part. We also understand the need for change and the need to see new faces and present new ideas. Although, we still have serious doubts about certain individuals in this proposal. We look forward to working with CLP to improve the lives of our citizens and the well being of our country whether Liberal Party members are included in the cabinet or not. |

Message | Since the ouster of the LP dictatorship, the URP, RLP, and RNP have served together in unity cabinets without much conflict despite strong political differences. While we have some concerns that such a new party will hold the office of Prime Minister, we will vote to confirm this cabinet. |

Message | The other parties will be able to guide the CLP, hence why we have only asked for two cabinet positions. It is our hope to form a monopoly on Food and Agriculture post. |

Message | We would like to have it noted that John Stevenson who acted as the RNP foreign Minister was very active in his role and was currently in process of negotiations with Telamon on forming a new treaty which did not harm parliamentary sovereignty. In furture Governments the RNP highly recommend John Stevenson for the post of Foreign Minister. Paula Moore, Party Leader. |

Message | OOC: Steven, see your inbox. Ladies and gentlemen, I'm a moderator not a babysitter and Lodamun consistently has proven to be a playpen full of mincing babies. The issues still being held against one another here are old, tiring and boring. If you can't handle the other players here, leave Lodamun-very simple. |
