Bill: Military Cohesion Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Rutanian Heritage Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: December 2815
Description[?]:
The RHP believes that existing policy pertaining to who can serve in the military has been used to try and construct a politically-correct, egalitarian Utopia, to its great detriment. Rutania's military is no place for ideological axe-grinding and abstract idealism - it is vital that it remain strong and unified, and that successful applications be based on merit rather than minority-status and reasons of affirmative action. Current legislation makes a cohesive military a virtual impossibility. The RHP believes it is important that Rutania recognize the natural, physical and mental distinctions between men and women, and that these differences are not part of some 'social construct', but are manifestations of fundamental biological predispositions. Because women are, by their nature, less capable of handling the physically and emotionally taxing duties of modern warfare, the RHP believes that it is imperative that they be restricted to non-combat roles in the military. Furthermore, allowing homosexuals in the military creates unnecessary controversy and causes great distraction. We have no reason to accept that a sexual habit and life-style choice considered morally subversive and perverted by the majority of civilizations, cultures and moral interpretations in history should be given equal status to what is biologically normal and geared into our nature as human-beings. As such, we have no reason to accept that homosexuals should serve in Rutania's military as 'equals' for the sake of abstract ideology, either. |

Message | If Article 1 was changed to: "Open homosexuality is not tolerated in the military. The military has a "don't ask, don't tell" policy. We would most likely vote yes on this bill. |

Message | We thank the NDPR for their willingness to compromise, but - as this legislation will undoubtedly fall, anyway - there is little point in altering it now. We will move it to a vote. |

Random fact: When you join the game, you will find yourself with only zero seats. That's because your party's representatives haven't been elected yet. You need to establish your party's position on issues by proposing several bills that your party wants passed and sending them to vote. This raises your visibility and if you do it enough, you will win seats at the next election. |
