The NDP wish to change the current legislation regarding organ donations.

Currently hundreds of people on the transplant waiting list die every year through a long waiting lsits and a shortage on organ donors. Organ donation should be presumed unless stated otherwise by the person or the next of kin.

As it stand people must actively register to allow for organ donations. This is not being done effectively.

MessageThis legislation is rediculous - consent can never truly be tacit, and to 'presume' consent will allow an exploitation of the system.
This is just another step towards Communism, where the State can seize not only property but parts of one's body without their express consent. Organ donations should be 'donations' only - not robberies.

MessageThe REP considers this bill a severe intrusion into the private sphere of the individuals. A human being has absolute control over his or her own body and this right cannot be usurped in any circumstances.
