Bill: Freedom Act 2822
Details
Submitted by[?]: Liberal Democratic Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: April 2824
Description[?]:
Why in our free society must our citizens carry identity cards? Identity cards are not only highly invasive and expensive; they are pointless. They create a bureaucratic nightmare, lead to discrimination against ethnic minorities, and are a honey pot for fraudsters. The people of this country and our guests should not have to justify themselves to the State when going about their daily law-abiding business. We should not be made to carry a card to identify ourselves and we should not have all of our most personal data stored on a central database. That is not being free. The whole of this insidious Act must be repealed. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Government-issued identity card policy.
Old value:: All citizens are issued with identity cards but are not required to carry them.
Current: All citizens are issued with identity cards but are not required to carry them.
Proposed: Citizens are not issued with identity cards.

Message | We can support this legislation, but we are somewhat confused with their seemingly paradoxical attitudes - the party has made an almost consistent push for increases in the size, power and scope of the federal government in various fields, yet they oppose national I.D cards on the grounds of price and privacy issues. Nevertheless, we are pleasantly surprised by the LDP's position on this issue. |
Date | 12:46:01, September 24, 2009 CET | From | Liberal Democratic Party | To | Debating the Freedom Act 2822 |
Message | We support a nationisled system of education, welfare and health but still endeavour to protect Rutanians freedoms and do think plenty of issues should be devolved to local government. The LDP is glad we are finding issues of consensus with our political opponents. |
Date | 20:11:54, September 24, 2009 CET | From | Rutanian Restoration Party | To | Debating the Freedom Act 2822 |
Message | Being as this legislation was introduced during the Anarchist Crisis years ago we do feel that it may perhaps be unnecessary in our current political climate. We would support the passage of this bill. |
Date | 22:33:54, September 24, 2009 CET | From | Rutanian Elitist Party | To | Debating the Freedom Act 2822 |
Message | And the idea of IDs comes once again. We have to state that a unitary ID card system simplifies many bureaucratic issues. We at the REP oppose this bill. |

Random fact: Party candidates for head of state elections are not visible to the public. This means that you cannot see who will run and who will not, which adds another strategic element to the elections. |
