Pntek is the official language.

MessageEnglish and Latin I understand, but why Gaelic?

I would prefer English (for the sake of convenience), Latin, and Greek.

MessageOOC still not listed in the history of Pontesi on the wiki. Not that it'll matter should this be passed in the first place.

MessageOOC The national sport has been changed along with the philosophy of this country, (interventionalist to non-interventionalist, etc.). Keeping cricket as a national sport for the mere reason that it was hear is not a good enough reason, in fact, any argument hinging on the fact that it was here first is a genetic fallacy.

MessageOOC: Wiki is not yet finished, and it won't be for sometime since nobody is doing it. And interventionalist to non-interventionalist have nothing to do with cricket, you're just failing to make any sense.

MessageOOC the connection is a change from one thing to another as time passes. The nation changed its views in regards to interventionalism and it can change its views in regards to a national pass-time.

The Barmenian people express their displeasure at the proposed change of language, which will divide the Jelbek peoples, burn to ash Pontesi's culture, and cause the Pontesian people to 'retire' their foolish leaders. It is not your right to dictate the language of the people.

MessageOOC: we are not dictating the language of the peoples in Pontesi, we are dictating the language we will use as the government to publish materials.
also, in regard to the idea of forming an international coalition against parties who change RP legislation, you are welcome to do so. However, this strikes me as being much more heinous in terms of breaking the flow of the game. I say this because of the violation of a nation's self-governance. It also undermines the authority of parties who are able establish a supermajority, something that the game has invested as the highest power in a nation. It is perfectly fine for you to make a case for us to keep this as an official language, but it is not your place to try an coerce us into maintainging a language against our desires.

MessageOOC: It's not really fair to answer IC objections OOCly, so I'm not going to answer your first point.

Nobody is trying to coerce you to do anything, but everyone is entitled to express their opinion on what you are doing. If you want a good case not to scrap Pntek as an official language, then that's quite simple- you have absolutely no reason to get rid of it. As far as I'm aware, Pntek generally isn't used for bills, titles, party names etc. The fact that it is kept is because it is a well established part of Pontesian culture, stretching back further even than most people have even played the game, a stable aspect of Pontesi that most players who have played here have used. Getting rid of it, because you feel like it or because you can or simply because you don't like the Democrat Party, is taking a sledge hammer to dozens of peoples ideas for unexplained and likely unjustifiable reasons.

As for a higher power being granted by the game, if you've seen some of the ideas people come up with when they have a supermajority you'd be slightly more doubtful of the wisdom of that power in the wrong hands. There's a reason people talk about introducing a cultural protocol, and it's precisely because of that higher power.

As a sidenote though, the introduction of Gaelic would go down well with most people if it was done in a more fitting place. Cildania has a Celtic majority, which has never been used to their full potential and would benefit from a Gaelic speaker establishing a language, history and culture for them if that was something you'd be interested in doing.
