MessageThis spending proposal still leaves the Imperial Crownlands in the black while allowing for substantial new investments in crucial areas.

* Foreign Affairs - International aid and assistance, increased diplomatic efforts
* Defence - Additional funds for personnel training, equipment, and medium-range transports for intra-Dovani use.
* Infrastructure and Transport - The decrease is because the Diet improperly approved a spending bill providing reoccurring for a one time expediture. The 16 billion cut is for that reason. The resulting increase over the pre-Carina bridge/infrastructure budget will go to maintaining and developing the new roadways in that area.
* Health and Social Services - More spending to meet the growing needs of our population
* Science and Technology/Food and Agriculture - Cuts to non-crucial Ministries in order to provide the funding increase to Health and Human Services.
* Trade and Industry - Increased funding earmarked for low to no-interest loans for small and medium Hulstrian companies that seek to do business in the Eastern Territories or New Englia.

MessageI don't think any Ministry is "non-crucial". Against the cuts in Agriculture and Science.

MessageThe cuts in Agriculture and Science help pay for the 55 billion crown increase in Health and Social Services. I think that is a much better use of money.

Messageas much as I'd agree with both sides of the argument, Agriculture is what feeds our population, and Sieance takes as further.

Has the GDP of the Hulstrian state risen so little we can't afford to simply expand one area?

MessageAgriculture Ministry spending does not go towards feeding our population - it goes towards marginal programs aimed at subsidizing farmers. There is simply too much money for so few programs. Additionally, there are few programs that the government has that actually use Science funding.

Our GDP is not large enough to keep Agriculture and Science spending at their current levels AND increase funding to other ministries as outlined in this budget. However, the CLA will now pledge to support increasing both Ministry's budgets to the 64 billion crown level once GDP growth allows (which should be in just a few years.)

Messagein that case, the VP will support this bill as long as the budget will be increased when the GDP will allow it.

MessageThe Food AND Agriculture Ministry also handles food safety and regulation for over 430 million people. The current levels for Science and Agriculture are fine and do not need to be cut.

MessageObviously our concerns over the inconsiderate cuts to the Food & Agriculture Ministry and Science & Technology were seen not be of importance. The FAP shall take note of this debate and shall apply it to future spending bills our party creates.

MessageThe above post was made before learning of the Christian Liberals intentions. However, the CLA should have instead taken out those cuts and put the rest of the spending proposals in, the FAP would have supported. There is no point in cutting something then proposing to bring it back to normal levels; these Ministries need some consistency.

MessageThe FAP has passed and voted for nearly every spending bill in recent memory without addressing the concerns of the CLA, even when there were extremely glaring errors (the Carina infrastructure budget being the most recent). This is not about tit-for-tat warfare, but the FAP cannot expect previous arrangements to automatically reassert themselves after decades of abuse and maltreatment.

The CLA has said that it will restore the the original level of spending once this budget has passed, and that's more than any of the budgets passed by the FAP and their former allies have done.

MessageIn a bit of irony, the above post was made before learning of the FAP's reassessed position. But the CLA sticks to its position - we will vote to restore funding once this bill passes.

MessageAfter decades of abuse and maltreatment? Are you talking about yourself or the budget? In any case, you're exaggerating quite a bit.

MessageThe budget process - budgets were introduced and passed on simple majoritarian lines without the need for consensus. Any perceived error in this budget by the FAP is a magnitude of 10 times lower than the error found in the Carina budget that the FAP accepted without any thought of the point raised by the CLA and seconded by the VP.
