Bill: School Anthem Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: People's Moderate Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: September 2133

Description[?]:

No child should be made to say the national anthem. This is a breach of personal liberty. If the child chooses not to, that is his/her right. This law needs to change to an optional version, where the anthem may be held, but the child shoudnt be forced to follow.

MessageDespite what I would like, our national anthem isn't a prayer, so your arguement is somewhat moot.

MessageNationalism is a religion of sorts, which is why so many cultural totems are regarded as sacred (ie, the issue of flag burning etc.) Personally, I don't think children should have to perform the national anthem at all, but we would be willing to vote for this as a step back from the current regressive policy.

MessageMy apologies, this i tried to redo this bill, but i guess i didnt hit the right button. My original plan was prayer in school, but there was none on the proposal list, so we have changed it to the national anthem. Again, my apologies for the mistake

MessageAh, well, I'm still agaisnt it. Instilling a bit of nationalism into our youth is a great idea.

MessageThere's a difference between inspiring our youth with freedom and forcing them to observe it. How can we say we are "defenders of freedom" or a "freedom loving people" if we cant allow a simple choice of wether our kids can say the anthem or choose not to?

Random fact: Particracy does not allow real-life brand names (eg. Coca Cola, McDonalds, Microsoft). However, in the case of military equipment brand names it is permitted to use simple number-letter combinations (eg. T-90 and F-22) borrowed from real life, and also simple generic names, like those of animals (eg. Leopard and Jaguar).
