Message | Abortion cheapens the value of life and thereby morally corrupts the people leading to hedonistic decay. I propose it be banned for all but extreme cases. |

Message | EDIT: I guess rape and such are included in "medical emergencies" (when you don't know who the father is, the baby could have serious genetic handicaps and we can therefore see this as a medical emergency). Maybe it's better to put this explicit at the bill, to get rid of all doubts (if you did NOT mean this as an emergency, I will probably vote against) |

Message | I'm against. This is a matter of both freedom of religion and civil rights, both of which are restricted by this bill. |

Message | SSP: if you concider abortion a matter of freedom, why not make murder legal too? |

Message | Because at law, life begins at birth, therefore, it can't be murder. FYI, I am a father of two. I think having a child is the greatest thing you can do. I would never counsel someone to have an abortion. However, I think in limited circumstances, the choice should be open. No fetus can survive outside the womb in the first trimester, and therefore, I think it is a reasonable compromise. As for the rape exception, that is a nice idea, but unenforceable. You can't get a rape conviction in most places in less than nine months, and therefore, having an abortion would be impossible (as the baby is born already). |

Message | I think you don't have my point (in 3): I say abortion should be possible in case of rape, the rest was argumentation why it should be that way |

Message | I'm telling you the rape exception is unenforceable - you can't convict someone before the baby is born. The right to abort in certain circumstances recognizes the right to control one's own body. Murder necessarily controls the body of another separate and apart from yours. They are therefore separate and distinct issues that cannot be linked when discussion about the right to abort during the first trimester. |

Message | Why shouldn't there be exceptions for rape? We don't say abortion is murder |

Message | You can make one - my point is that it is unenforceable. |

Message | The fact is that if we don't allow abortions here, then the health of women will be placed at risk when they're forced to have backstreet abortions. Banning abortion will merely result in thousands of women leaving the country to have abortions in other States. if you want to protect the health and fertility of women NUS then banning abortion is not the manner in which to undertake it. |

Message | With the amendments a rape case shall not need to be proven but merely brought. |

Message | None of this metaphysical moralising BS. The birth rate can be improved by other means. |

Random fact: Any RP law granting extraordinary "emergency powers" or dictator-like powers to a government must be passed by at least a 2/3rds majority, but (like all RP laws) may always be overturned by a simple majority vote of the legislature. |
