MessageEven though the society does not currently operate politically in Alduria, we still follow the news from the land of our founders. We feel it is important to remind you that Alduria can take to agressive actions against Mordusia due to article 1 of SOTO.

MessageHowever, this would be considered a rebellion and not a war, and thus the treaty would not apply since the rightful government is who we recognize and we are fighting the rebel one.

MessageOOC: Well, technically by SOTO you're not allowed any involvement in another members internal affairs, and it would be difficult to argue that 'putting down a rebellion' isn't doing so.

However, since SOTO has specific geographical conditions for membership, and both you and Mordusia don't meet those conditions (you're both to the East of Quanzar/Istalia), its redundant in this case.

MessageIt could also be argued that since Terra is a globe, Alduria and Mordusia are simply far far west (but still west) and thereby qualify as members and given where all the current signatories are this would seem to be the appropriate view.

MessageOOC: Good point; it doubtless wasn't the intended meaning of the treaty, which was basically trying to restrict it to Majatra and Selucias zone of influence, however technically, by the wording of the treaty, you are correct, and it would be a violation for Alduria to involve itself in Mordusia's internal affairs.

MessageYet this is pointless considering the point that all it takes is a vote and we are out of the treaty. Not to mention the fact that we will hold our meaning as the right one and thus will be in a bind. For as you said it can be seen either way and thus can be argued either way on whether or not we are in the treaty. Thus it does not matter.

MessageOOC: Well I think it's pretty much indisputable that you would have to regard yourself as a legitmate member of the treaty, since you have ratified it. I might argue that Seleyan nations being allowed membership of the treaty was never intended (which if, I remember correctly, it wasn't), but by the wording of the treaty any of those South of Selucia are eligible. So unless you had an argument why you are legitimitely members while Mordusia isn't, you would be in violation of the treaty; whether that would have any consequences, I don't know, tbh the axis treaty seems like the more relevant one.

Anyway, as you say it's only a short delay to withdraw anyway, I've just always found it amusing how SOTO jumped continents :p.

Random fact: Particracy does not allow official national flags of real-life nations or flags which are very prominent and recognisable (eg. the flags of the European Union, the United Nations, Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union or the Confederate States of America).

Random quote: "The answer to global warming is in the abolition of private property and production for human need. A socialist world would place an enormous priority on alternative energy sources. This is what ecologically-minded socialists have been exploring for quite some time now." - Louis Proyect
