Message | This bill proposes that even restaurants and pubs will have a no smoking policy. Now I would agree with this decision if it were made by the owner of said the business, but right now it is being mandated by the federal government and imposed on all of these small business owners. These restaurant and pub owners could see a decrease in revenue because their clients are forced to leave if they want to smoke. Fundamentally it is about the right to smoke being equal to the right to breathe. But if non-smokers don't like the table next to them smoking, they can go to another restaurant where the owner has decided either to have smoking and non-smoking sections or a totally smoke-free restaurant. If this bill passes, smokers won't have that choice. Leave these businesses to decide on this question themselves. Once again, if these property owners hear from their customers that there is a demand for non-smoking sections, or a smoke free environment it should be up to the owner to set these policies, not the federal government.
