MessageFM Tvarivich: Representatives of the Imperial Diet, I present the following budget to you to fund several new measures concerning the way we have set to fund highways and roads in Mordusia. We will remain with a surplus following this Budget, but it will be a very minimal one. Mordusia has, however, proudly brought its savings to a total of 1.2 Trillion MRD over the last thirteen years through prudent spending policies.

This Budget is negotiable, and I would urge the representatives of the Diet to keep in mind two things moving forward. All new policies will impact the budget. As the Minister of Finance, I will, of course, serve the Diet in continuing to follow their policies and providing proposals for new budgets as necessary. Firstly, however, Mordusia's budget is tight, and, should we find ourselves in need of a dramatic increase in military spending, then we will have to cut into our deficit.

Secondly, in the long term, if the Diet is wishing to pass new spending priorities, my office will do its best to provide an estimate on the budgetary impact prior to the time that Bill moves to vote. As our surplus is shrinking, I would urge prudent behavior to consider possible cuts in the Budget or look at the course of new taxes. I would caution against new taxes and remind the Diet of the priority my office set on cutting the Luxury Tax to 40% by 2900. We have cut it from 50 to 43% over the past 12 years, thanks to high levels of economic growth and a balanced budget with which to work.

I welcome any questions you may have.

OOC: I thought this might be a good idea, to give the Budget more meaning to "score" its cost. If anyone has a problem with this let me know, I'll try to make it as reasonable as possible - don't be afraid to call me out on numbers you think are wrong.

MessageWhile the UWF would like to see more money invested in Food/Agriculture and Trade/Industry, we welcome the increase in Infrastructure funding. However, we question the cutting in Finance. How else are we to pay government employees? Further, why does the Head of Government need 1 billion MD budgeted for his office? Surley anyone that expensive isn't worth it.

MessageThe Finance Ministry currently has a bloated budget, for we have no significant priorities that require an incredibly extensive staff. If this changes, we'll shift the budget.

We can look at reasonable cuts in the HoG's budget, but the office's chief responsibility is to guide all other areas of the government. This does entail a rather extensive civil service to back it up, a number of employees and such.
