Bill: Transfer from Monarchy to Viceroy system (Read Description)

Details

Submitted by[?]: ƒortenohƒiv (ACN)

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: December 2905

Description[?]:

I have been contacted by the Parti Imperial du Peuple saying that I should consider switching to the viceroy system. After thinking about this, I thought it is a great idea since Joey II just died, Joseph the Third is taking office.

This switch will only contain a few differences than before:

We have an elected chief executive.
The name of the elected official will change.

The name of the regions is disputed. Please discuss in debate.

If you want a nation name change, just post a bill and if it passes, I'll tell the moderation.

MessageA viceroy is the representant of the King in one of the domains or colonies of the Kingdom. A few examples.
The King of Spain (16th and 17th Centuries) had its permanence residence in the Kingdom of Castile but he kept viceroys for the Kingdom of Aragon, the Kingdom of Naples, the Lowlands, Milan and Northern Italy and the West Indies. Same with the King/Queen of Englands and the viceroys of India or Canada.

MessageOOC: Hello guys,

I have been the one that the FP and CHP have been talking to about monarchist things. The Viceroy system was made many game years ago in Luthori and is also called the Viceroy system. It basically allows for the people to elect an de facto HoS with all the power of an HoS, but without the title of an HoS. The monarch will still techincally be the HoS and in some cases could retain some power, but that depends on what you all decided on.

The reason this system is used is to allow those that wish to have a more democratic system have one, while at the same time allowing the monarchist to have their monarchy, a kind of compromise.

The new "Viceroy" does not have to be the HoG also, but can if you guys choose so. This is a way to keep the monarch's power down and make it more of a democracy.

While President is not the first choice that would come to my mind, it can work. Prime Minister, Lord Protector, Viceroy, Lord Steward, High Chancellor and many more are also good titles to give the de facto HoS.

Overall it is a way to make everyone happy and to make everyone be able to have a government that is fair to both sides.

MessageIt exists in the real world and it's called a parliamentary monarchy. In a OCC viceroy system the King holds the power, while in a parliamentary monarchy the HoG has the power of a HoS (or almost at least) but there's still a monarch. It's resumed in this motto: "The King reigns but does not rule".

MessageOOC: Yes New Hope it is, but the game has that already, and is techincally what you are under now. So we call it the Viceroy system.

Point is, is that all of you win. So it is a compromise and is a way to still have the best of both sides.
