MessageWe currently have a TRA 3.6 billion surplus. We propose to lower taxes and give this money back. We also wish to point out to the Opposition, that under the current sales tax scheme, the surplus rose from a minor 1 million to over 3 billion! The economy has truly grown under the Mashkov Reforms!

MessageOur party disagrees entirely with this proposal. This money should be invested into public schools to help our most deprived citizens, not put back into the pockets of those who buy luxury goods (I.E. those who can afford to do so) This proposal just demonstrates that the MGP is a party of the elite, for the elite.

MessageWell, luxury goods are products that are not necessary for survival; for example, automobiles, sticks of gum, and clothes. Likewise, the current national budget allocates 141,000,000,000 TRA, that's BILLION, to the education budget; and, since this this is on top of the local government's contribution given that they are the ones responsible for education!

Also, if "luxury goods" are bought only by the elite, then they are the ones financing the entire budget! (There currently is only a small income tax.)

MessageWell, though it is true that everyone buys 'luxury' goods, the elite have far more disposable income and so the vast majority of it will go on luxury goods. Compare this to Trigunia's poor who have to spend much of their income on the bare essentials of survival. So reducing taxation on luxury goods will be far more beneficial for the rich than for the poor.

Though we concede that education is relatively well funded, this is only because of the complete lack of government investment in the environment. The MGP has done nothing to curb emissions and industrial waste. Will we, the second most economically powerful nation in the world (behind Kirlawa I believe) not take our share of the burden? How can we expect to fight climate change without proper action from our reactionary government?

MessageThe Mashkov Reforms have attempted to eliminate emissions through the shutting down of Trigunia's old and inefficient industrial system; not through legislating to those systems.

Currently, the nation is attempting to adapt its economy from an industrial-based to a knowledge-based one; there is no need to sanction such legislation. The best way to eliminate industrial emissions is to eliminate industry and replace it with something newer for today's economy.

MessageOOC: Are we really second only to Kirlawa?

MessageOOC: We have the third strongest currency, and we have the fourth largest population. These factors combined with heavy sales tax (which actually adds to the GDP) means that our economy is the second strongest in the world.
