Message | We respectfully disagree with all articles in the proposition. Article 1 is further continuing an already existing problem. National defense must be truly national, and that means that defense industries should not be private. However, since they are, we should subsidize them in order to have the power to focus them on projects deemed in the national interest. Article 2 is completely unfair to the health and safety of our citizens. Government is not an intermediary it is the guarantor of opportunity and fair competition, and allowing corporations to maximize profits at the risk of consumers' health and worker's safety is by no means guaranteeing opportunity or a fair playing field. Article 3 is also disagreeable because it allows this government to abandon our societies hard working poor and that is just plain wrong. This will increase the size of the poor and eliminate much opportunity for class mobility. We are willing to support Article 1 if the spending that is cut through its passage goes to support currently existing social programs. However, only if Articles 2 and 3 are taken off the bill. |

Message | If the public is to maintain check on the government, it must possess the defense industry. If the defense industry is privately owned, there must be no subsidies given. The workers and consumers are perfectly able to protect their own wellbeing. Let them call for safe workplaces as they see necessary instead of letting government lobbyists and bureaucrats decide for them. Minimum wage does nothing to insure mobility, if anything it stagnates the economy by artificially setting a price for unskilled labor. |

Message | And what exactly would make the companies respond to workers and consumers calls for safety and health if not regulation? Nothing. These policies may seem fiscally "responsible" but only in as much as they are socially irresponsible. Privatizing defense puts it in the hands of the few profiteers not the public. |
