Bill: Identity Card Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: National Democratic Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 2046

Description[?]:

This Bill proposes that:

1. All citizens are issued with identity cards but are not required to carry them.

2. The ID card be accepted as an alternative to Drivers Licences and passports for proof of age matters.

3. The card contain important information such as blood type, Social security details etc etc. BUT, having this information on the card would be optional and not visible on the card, rather it would be stored on a computer chip that could be read by swiping the card into a machine. Any information on the card would be password or pin number protected...except any details that the owner of the card may wish to readily accesible, like blood type, information on allergies etc etc.

4. The card be multi-purpose - Ie: It could be used as a library card, public transport card, etc etc, thus providing convenience and saving wallet space.

MessageThis bill would allow for security of a single person to be infringed upon if lost or stolen, will it not? Until there is more security measures in place i will not support the bill in its current state.

MessageSure thats fine. I may consider only having the ID cards issued on a voluntary basis rather than to everyone.

MessageThat is better I think, and how about a protection clause where if this card is lost or stolen, pertinent agencies will be notified. Also please include that if the databases of those agencies are infringed upon where as a security breech is noticed, the public shall be notified within 10 days, and within 20days the government will impose a fine of 50,000 dollars if not notified, and if the public is not notified after 120 days of the security breech, the fine will jump to 120,000 dollars. Then if the agency does not notify the public after that the company will be shut down for non-disclosure of a security breech.

MessagePoint of Information: A similar bill to issue out ID cards was proposed by the BTP and was voted down, though in fairness that bill required all persons to carry the ID cards and did not specify a multi purpose use for them.

MessageActually, we DID specify a multi purpose use for them. Though, like you said, our bill required all persons to carry the ID.

We will, of course, support this bill.

Random fact: RP laws follow the same passing rules as in-game variable laws. Laws that are not of a constitutional nature require a simple majority "Yes" vote from active parties currently holding seats. Laws that are of a constitutional nature require a 2/3 majority "Yes" vote from active parties currently holding seats. RP laws may be abolished a simple majority vote this applies to ANY RP law.
