Details

Submitted by[?]: Liberal-Progressive Union

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: December 2136

Description[?]:

This bill calls for the privacy and liberty in regards to personal letters, or documents.
For the justice to violate this right, the reason must exceed the normal grounded cause. The justice needs a warrant that fits an extreme situation in order to violate the privacy of the letter. Situations include- Terrorist suspects, death threats, information leading to prevention of major crimes, assasination attempts, letters containing state secrets that are in possession of alleged spy, or agent, and other life or death crimes or crimes against the state.
Persons such as family members or friends of the suspect are protected from violation.

MessageBy proposing this you are denying the courts evidence that could be vital in finding the correct verdict. If there is a strong belief that these documents would be useful then why should we deny access to evidence? If nothing is found then the contents are not revealed.

MessageIf a verdict comes down to the contents of a letter, then it must be a slow day in court or the prosecutor is sleeping. As I stated if there is reason to believe these letters will prevent a serious crime or solve a serious crime, then they can be used as evidence. There must be a limit to how far the justices can go in violating personal liberties in the off chance they may find a bit of evidence.
