Bill: Equal Representation Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Liberal Conservative Party (ACN&IA)

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: December 2921

Description[?]:

We wish to add one-hundred-and-one seats to the legislative assembly. The purpose of this is to increase representation for smaller parties, as well as a more variated Holy Imperial Diet. Smaller parties may get fewer seat than they would have, which causes more power to be transferred over to the major parties. By increasing the seats, more politicians will be able to be a part of the Diet and state their issue. It will also be changed into an odd number in case of a "draw".

MessageMr. Speaker,

The Diet is fine the way it is. Small parties are meant to start out small, then grow.

We yield.

MessageMr Speaker,

While we understand the good sentiments behind the LCP's proposal, the CIL is always wary of an expansion of government. We believe that a smaller chamber will govern better than a larger one. We could perhaps support an enlargement to 201 seats, or a change to 101 seats, but we believe 301 is too much.

I yield.
