| This bill has been proposed in the wake of the South Vintalli river ecological disaster: Global Gazette, April 2045: A leak at a factory in South Vintalli has caused thousands of litres of poisonous chemicals to be released into an important river. Environmentalists predict that the aquatic life in the river will be wiped out and it will take years to recover. The company responsible, BBP Inc., is a major member in the logistics sector of South Vintalli and there are worries that a similar incident could happen in their other plants that exist throughout Gaduridos. The company has refused to comment on the issue. Therefore, this bill proposes that: 1. Government funding be made available to clean up the mess, before the ecological systems of the river are irreversibly damaged (If this hasn't happened already). 2. The Government conduct a major survey of all major industrial plants within a free republic in order to ascertain the threat of this happening in other areas. 3. Since stricter pollution control measures have already been proposed by the portable toilets bill, this bill would support these measures being passed. However the legislation contained within this bill is entirely independent of that from the portable toilets bill and one can still vote for this bill without having to vote for the other (and vice versa). |
