Current: The government maintains a system of universities, vocational schools, and colleges nationwide.
Proposed: The government maintains a system of universities nationwide.

Old value:: The government does not fund any public higher education institutions, permitting only private higher education institutions to exist.
Current: The government allows private higher education but regulates it to meet nationally set standards.
Proposed: The government allows public and private higher education institutions to coexist with self-regulation for those that are private.

Old value:: The government subsidizes higher education tuition to a certain amount, the rest is covered by the individual students. This includes scholarship programs.
Current: The government introduces means tested loans for higher education tuition, to be paid back by students after earnings reach a certain amount.

Message | Mr Speaker, The CIL thought it had made a deal with the DPA regarding education and that it would accept government loans and tuition if education was left to local governments, Obviously this is a direct breach of our agreement. We urge all parties to vote no so that no further agreements between our parties are broken. I yield. |
