| This bill has been proposed in light of the South Vintalli river ecological disaster: Global Gazette, April 2045 A leak at a factory in South Vintalli has caused thousands of litres of poisonous chemicals to be released into an important river. Environmentalists predict that the aquatic life in the river will be wiped out and it will take years to recover. The company responsible, BBP Inc., is a major member in the logistics sector of South Vintalli and there are worries that a similar incident could happen in their other plants that exist throughout Gaduridos. The company has refused to comment on the issue. Since there were only moderate laws regulating pollution levels in place at the time (and therefore it would probably be a futile attempt to hold BBP Inc responsible for the disaster), this bill proposes that: The Government step in and compensate those who were greatly affected by the disaster for loss of livelihood and/or any resulting health problems that may have resulted from the disaster. |
