Bill: Anti-Ageism Discrimination

Details

Submitted by[?]: CNT/AFL

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: January 2046

Description[?]:

Recall the earlier bill with the same name.
The retirement age in Lodamun is too low, and people should be given the option of working to a later age, if their health permits.
Now that trade unions are legal, we are confident that workers will not be exploited, and pensions will not be witheld if workers choose not work until the retirement age.

MessageIf politicians can work till they're 75 (Like Senators in Canada), why can't ordinary workers, if they feel healthy enough?

Besides, we have trade unions now, so employers can't withold pensions if workers decide to stop working at 65, or 70.

MessageIf more older workers stay on, then it could become harder for younger people entering the workforce to get jobs. Unemployment could rise. Perhaps the issue needs further study or the age needs to be phased in. The CCF will conduct an internal consultation with our constituent orgnaizations to determine its stance on this question.
