Bill: Repeal of "SR-91:IUT" Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Coalition for National Unity [CNU]
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: June 2950
Description[?]:
The Senate Sovereign of the Federal Republic of Solentia does hereby repeal: Senate Resolution 91- Illegalization of Undemocratic Titles [http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=219549]. The Senate finds that this Act is an expression of undemocratic statute law that binds the Senate in an unseemly way and rejects a current Senate majority. We find this to be an infringement of Senatorial Sovereignty. This Repealing Act does not state support or opposition for the actual policies of SR-91, only it's binding of the future Senate. |

Message | We wonder why the CMP didn't notice we had already included a better prepared bill on the same subject. If the CMP is against inter-partisan cooperation on a topic we had already addressed, then we see no reason to support its bill which doesn't include a thorough research on the topic. We believe the CMP is ill prepared and they should inform themselves on this delicate topic. |

Message | "As we have already stated, this Act should be repealed before we start messing about with challenging the 2/3 majority provision. Perhaps the UPS would like to encourage bills like this to stand-in-nSenate? I was under the impression they opposed it. A mixed message indeed." Sen. Keith Juras, Justice Spokesman. |

Message | "Section III, Article 2 of SR 91 states that it shall only be overturned by a 2/3rds majority of the Senate, so the CPS assumes that the CMP requires 66 'yes' votes in order for this repeal to be successful." CPS Chairwoman Andrea Bryant |

Message | OOC: Yes. 67 votes and it is repealed, 66 and it stays. |

Message | The Utilitarian Party of Solentia is against Section III article 2 of SR 91 bill. However, under the current system nothing illegal has happened. We oppose titles and peerage. If the CMP needs our support in order to reach the 2/3 required to repeal the aforementioned bill, we must say it loud and clear: You refused our offer and we see no need to repeal the act. We therefore have no further interest in the subject. |
Date | 17:40:23, June 07, 2010 CET | From | Social Renewal Party | To | Debating the Repeal of "SR-91:IUT" Act |
Message | The Left Radicals are torn on this issue. We support the prohibition on redundant titles and will oppose any attempt to legislate their resurrection. We do not support the binding of future Senates with unnecessary requirements of 2/3rds majorities to overturn legislation. We will begrudgingly vote 'No' in order to prevent the reintroduction of titles. |
Date | 08:13:15, June 08, 2010 CET | From | Utilitarian Party of Solentia | To | Debating the Repeal of "SR-91:IUT" Act |
Message | Seeing it is not likely the ban of tittles is lifted, we do recommend all parties to express their opinion concerning the principle of discontinuity; it could easily solve problems like this one, while at the same time preventing the current and most actual ban to be lifted, since section II article 3 would not be in order. |

Random fact: When you join the game, you will find yourself with only zero seats. That's because your party's representatives haven't been elected yet. You need to establish your party's position on issues by proposing several bills that your party wants passed and sending them to vote. This raises your visibility and if you do it enough, you will win seats at the next election. |
