MessageName: James Clarke
Age: 69
Experience:
* Senator, 2937 +
* Political Campaigner, 2933-2937
* Legal Director, Benson and Barnett Ldt., 2927-2933
* Legal Advisor, Prince Inc., 2922-2927
* Shadow Justice Secretary (Senator), 2917-1922
* Senator, 2908-2917

Information: Clarke, former CMP Leader, is a trained barrister and judicial advisor having a wealth of experience that lasts over 40 years. Clarke has served in Senate and thus has strong links with the legislature. He has preached vehemently for the advocation of "Senatorial Sovereignty" and a strong Supreme Presidency. He served as Shadow Justice Secretary in his early career, taking on his FIP counterparts with skill. He went on after the dissolution of the party to advise two key Solentian-based firms. Prince, a high-end clothing and supermarket chain saught his legal mind as an advisor before he was offered a role at Benson and Barnett, a pharmecutical company, as a Legal Director. Clarke is known as a "soft Conservative" and advocates equal rights for homosexuals, takes a moderate line on abortion. He is unlikely to side with either the left or the strong right. His opinions on many issues are widely public knowledge due to his tenure as CMP Leader.

OOC: If only to enhance RP.

MessageThe Utilitarian Party of Solentia has a high regard for James Clarke, yet, in order for us to approve of him we must question: Do you consider the role of a Justice is to take political debate to court? How strong would your party loyalty be if you were to be chosen?

MessageI ask what is Senator Clarke's stance on unions and workers' rights? Also, what stances does the Senator take on issues of peerage and internationalism?

Message"Thank you both for your questions. To the UPS; No I don't. I think that the Court is there to interpret the law, not to judge its content. That said, a strong moral compass and a sense of right and wrong are obviously open to interpretation and so every justice falls into some sort of catagory. Our belief is what makes us human. The role of a Justice is to seek just that, Justice. That requires more than one person for the very reason that morality is subjective.
In essence, I will seek Justice of course, and I will rule with a true heart and a strong sense of right and wrong. I shall interpret the law with honesty according to my character. I cannot however deny that I am a Conservative and if a matter arises in the court that required me to make a judgement on a moral issue, I am sure that my own understanding of morality would result in my following a so-called "Conservative" line.

To Senator Specter, My position on unions and workers rights are quite simple. I believe in the law. I believe that the law is there to protect every man, worker or not. Provided that Unions are in the best interests of the people and that the laws regarding unions are aiding workers, they should be supportive. Will I support Unions and workers completely? Of course not. Unions make mistakes, we all do. And workers dont always take the National interest into account. For that reason, a balance of support and protection must be employed, as I always aimed for during my leadership.

On peerage, I am quite moderate. I believe in Social incentive. I believe that some sort of titlular system to be the best way to achieve that. However that is a matter for the legislature, not for the court. I shall interpret the law as the law stands and reserve my personal beliefs. I have my understanding of what is best, but I leave the actual decision on how to incentivise the populace to the people in the required positions to make such judgements.

On Internationalism, I am wary. I see no harm in the free global market however fear somewhat complete reliance on other nations. I am confident however, in the ability of governance to protect. The Governement is there to look after it's people and provided that it's institutions aim for the national interest, cooperation, positive dialogue and the likes should be encouraged.

I hope this answers your questions."

James Clarke, Sen.

Random fact: Moderation will not accept Cultural Protocol updates which introduce, on a significant scale, cultures which are likely to be insufficiently accessible to players. In particular, for all significant cultures in Particracy, it should be easy for players to access and use online resources to assist with language translation and the generation of character names. Moderation reserves the right to amend Cultural Protocols which are deemed to have introduced significant cultures that are not sufficiently accessible and which are not being actively role-played with.

Random quote: "'The illusion of Pontesi nationhood'. The Serpent speaks. How can they say these things? How can they call our country an illusion? You can see it clear as day, these people won’t stop until they’ve destroyed us all." - Morgan Einar, former Pontesian general
