Message | My party was contacted by sources from within the Leftist League requesting a move to ratify the Leftist League International Treaty. As a government Minister, I present this proposal to the Soviet. However, as a member of the Social & Liberal Democrats, I can confirm I shall abstein. It is not for me to say why my party is against the treaty given my position and that I am sponsoring the bill. I commend the bill to the Soviet. Vanessa Cargill Minister of Foreign Affairs |

Message | It is good that the Leftist League has given up the earlier version of its authoritarian, statist treaty, but we will not support this version either. |

Message | We cannot support the treaty but we will only abstein. The ultimate aim of SLD has always been and will always be a mixed market economy. This treaty, in our view, places on the National Soviet undue restrictions on legislation. We also recognise that this bill cannot pass before the next election, and the Techno Racist Nazi Party will most certainly gain seats, and the leftist parties may also gain seats, the effect of which may allow the bill to pass. We will accept the descision of our coalition partners in regards to this and we recognise their political opinions, and as such we will not vote no outright. We will recognise and accept the will of the National Soviet whatever that will may be. |

Message | Due to the recent apparent partnership between TGSU and the LL, we question the motifs and ideals of both the LL and the TGSU, and that has led to the decision to not support this bill. |

Message | With the help of Leftist League parties, TGSA has managed, or appeared to have managed to pass bills, nationalizing all businesses and destroying the DWC's. |

Message | No DWC's were destoryed, ALL business is run by them. |

Message | Government businesses can never operate as DWC. Ultimately the Ministers in charge, and bureaucrats in between, have more saying than the workers. |

Message | OOC: While in principle I would stand with many, if not most, of the ideals of the treaty, I echo the worries of SLD: If we place too many restrictions on legislation options, it will be difficult to role-play effective opposition. If we cement everyone into small areas of legislation, it would not make for a very interesting game. |

Message | OOC: well you can always vote out of a treaty. |
Date | 12:35:43, June 30, 2010 CET | From | SCI Libertarian-Socialist Syndicate (LL) | To | Debating the Ratification of the Leftist League International Treaty |
Message | OOC: But you don't get issue visibility by attempting to vote out a treaty. And if the treaty locks only one option in for legislation, then no one can propose any bills on that issue. I have seen a supermajority party lock down a nation by limiting all the legislation to what it was currently set at, thus not allowing for new parties to gain any visibility (basically using game mechanics to cement his single party in power. I do not support any treaty, even if it were a pro-slavery treaty, because it would lock all of you out of legislative options to increase your progressive civil rights visibility. |
