Bill: Statutory Holidays Act I

Details

Submitted by[?]: National Democratic Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 2046

Description[?]:

This bill proposes that we establish statutory holidays. In addition, this bill proposes that:

1. People who are working may (with the agreement of their employer) have a day off and still be paid on that day for a full days work.

2. People (regardless of whether they are working full-time or part-time) be paid time and a half for working on these days.

3. People who work full-time recieve a holiday in lieu for working on a statutory holiday.

4. In cases of part-time work, both the statutory holiday payment and/or day in lieu would only apply if the person had worked the previous three weeks on the day that the holiday falls (ie: If the statutory holiday falls on a monday, a person would have to work the previous three mondays in order to qualify to be paid if not working on the holiday or a day in lieu if working on the holiday).

MessageNot a bad bill. Though I wonder how the business community will take this if we make too many statutory holidays. Clause 2 and 3 and 4 are fine, its 1 that seems a little harsh in the case of many holidays.
